About the Brigade

21st Separate Brigade named after Petro Kalnyshevskyi (Military Unit 3011) is a military formation of the National Guard of Ukraine stationed in Kryvyi Rih.
August 24, 2015 – the Brigade was awarded its Battle Flag.
August 23, 2018 – the Brigade was granted the honorary name of Petro Kalnyshevskyi.
September 29, 2023 – the Brigade was awarded the ribbon to its Battle Flag “For Courage and Bravery.”

1992

Formation of the brigade

The brigade was created by Order of the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine No. 02 dated 02.01.1992. Until 2014, the brigade performed tasks of public order protection and convoying.

2014-2018

Operation in the East: participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO)

Performance of service-combat tasks in Kharkiv, Luhansk and Donetsk regions: service at checkpoints, counter-sabotage measures, public order protection.

2014

Liberation of settlements in Luhansk and Donetsk regions

July: participation in operations to liberate Drouzhkivka, Krasnyi Lyman, Yampil, Novomykhailivka, Siversk, Rubizhne;

22-23 July 2014: liberation of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk in Luhansk region.

2014

Service at checkpoints

Defense of checkpoints 31, 32, 33 near Smile and Slovianoserbsk in semi-encirclement.

2018

Award of the honorary name

On 23 August 2018, by Presidential Decree No. 240/2018, the brigade received the honorary name “named after Petro Kalnyshevsky”.

2018-2022

Operation in the East: participation in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO)

Continued performance of combat tasks and protection of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Full-scale invasion: Donetsk region

Performance of combat tasks to repel the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, defense of Mariupol, Novomykhailivka, Velyka Novosilka, Pavlivka, Maryinka, Vuhledar, Pokrovsk, Chasiv Yar, Urozhaine, Kurakhove.

2022

Full-scale invasion: Dnipropetrovsk region

Defense of Kryvyi Rih, Zelenodolsk, Apostolove, Maryanske, Shestirnia, Orlove, Bila Krynytsia as part of the Defense Command of Kryvyi Rih within the Operational Grouping “Kherson”.

Full-scale invasion: Kherson region

Liberation of Vysokopillia, Novovoznesenske, Ivanivka, Kochubeiivka, Arkhanhelske, Lyubymivka, Zolota Balka, Havrylivka, Dudchany, Kachkarivka, Mylove, Novokairy, Novoraisk, Zmiivka, Novoberyslav.

Award of the honorary distinction

29 September 2023 – by Presidential Decree No. 630/2023, the brigade was awarded the honorary distinction “For Courage and Bravery”.

Defense of Donetsk region

Combat tasks in the first echelon of defense of Urozhaine, Staromaiorske, Blahodatne, Velyka Novosilka.

2024

Defense of Kharkiv region

Combat tasks in Lyptsi, Kharkiv region, within the defense zone of the 13th NGU Brigade; fortification works, circular defense positions in the Yampil area.

Defense of Chasiv Yar

Combat tasks in Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region, under operational subordination to the commander of the 18th NGU Brigade within the defense zone of the 24th Mechanized Brigade.

Defense of Pokrovsk

Combat tasks in the area of Pokrovsk, Novotoretske, Yelyzavetivka, Malynivka, Hryshyne, Myrnohrad, Shevchenko, Dobropillia, Novoekonomichne, Balahan, Rodynske.

Defense of Kherson region

Combat tasks in the operational zone of OTU “Kherson” within the Operational Grouping “Tavria”, subordinated to the 121st and 126th Territorial Defense Brigades: service at checkpoints and observation posts along the Dnipro river bank.

Logistics support

Logistics is the rear without which there is no front. Drivers, auto mechanics, electricians, cooks and other specialists ensure movement, repair, food supply and stable operation of the brigade during combat tasks.

UAV operators

UAV operators are the eyes and power of modern combat. Work with drones of various types: aircraft, strike and interceptors. Reconnaissance, adjustment, enemy engagement and saving the lives of comrades.

Electronic warfare specialists

Electronic warfare today saves the lives of civilians and soldiers at the front. We need specialists with relevant skills who are ready to work with technologies for the sake of Victory.



Infantry

Infantry are those who hold positions, stop the enemy and decide the outcome of the battle. The foundation of the army, strength, endurance and responsibility for every meter of Ukrainian land.

Signalmen

Stable communication is the foundation of battle management. We need people with technical education who are proficient in modern technologies and ready to provide secure communication in the most difficult conditions.

Medics

Medics are needed at the front and in the rear. They are the first to fight for the lives of the wounded. Mandatory medical education, endurance and readiness to work where every minute decides a person’s fate.

Engineers

Engineers ensure the safety of units and civilians. We need specialists who can skillfully apply skills in demining, position arrangement and countering the enemy’s engineering threats.

Questions and Answers

  • Ukrainian citizenship;
  • age — from 18 years;
  • fitness for military service according to health condition;
  • no criminal record;
  • motivation for service and readiness to perform tasks under martial law.

The duration of training depends on the chosen specialty and the candidate’s level of preparation.

Basic general military training — 8 weeks.

Specialized training — additional, depending on the position.

Training is conducted under the guidance of experienced instructors.

  • basic monetary allowance — according to the position and rank from 22,000 UAH;
  • additional payments for participation in combat operations;
  • bonuses for tasks in combat zones;
  • one-time and monthly payments according to current legislation.
The level of monetary allowance may vary depending on the conditions of service.

Candidates without military experience undergo full training.

Experienced servicemen can be appointed to appropriate positions taking into account their skills.
